The Design Process 
 
The design of the Japanese Press Board / IASTM Board was an unexpected journey. It started when I asked several practitioners for feedback on a basic Japanese press board design. Patrick Cunningham, Lic. Ac. (clinician, author, and educator) got back to me with some truly amazing ideas. Over several months, Patrick and I corresponded and created multiple prototypes, each one refined and tested for performance. We experimented with textures and shapes, constantly pushing to improve the board's functionality and efficacy. His clinical expertise and experience made this tool possible.
 
Finally, we settled on solid copper as the material of choice for its natural anti-microbial properties and durability. The board's brushed texture was designed to provide maximum grip, ensuring that acupuncturists could perform their work precisely and easily, even when using salves and oils. In addition, the polished edges of the board were crafted to create a smooth, comfortable experience for the patient.
